How to read the figures
Every amount says what state it is in: a cap is not money received, an award is not a payment, a budget is not an outcome, and a press figure is not a filing. Amounts in different states are never added together.
- accountsBooked in the club's or league's accounts.
- paidPaid out, according to the payer's own document.
- awardedAwarded by a resolution; payment is not confirmed.
- maximumA cap or the most a rule allows, not money received.
- budgetA plan filed in advance, not an outcome.
- contractedCommitted under contracts, not booked costs.
- invoicedInvoiced, not yet confirmed as paid.
- acceptedAccepted by the payer, not yet paid.
- dueOwed and due, not yet paid.
- reportedA figure from the press, with no document behind it.
- estimateDerived by Clubs DB from published figures; the method is in the note.
Club figures compare only within the tier a club played in that season, and only clubs that publish are counted, so samples may lean towards larger or better-run clubs. A figure that is not freely published is left out, never estimated.
